In order to help clarify a few crucials points regarding transmissions, here are our clients most frequently asked questions

How often should I have my transmission checked?

Consult your owner’s manual for recommended maintenance schedules. Preventive maintenance can extend your car and its transmission’s life. We recommend an annual check of your vehicle’s transmission in order to catch little problems before they become big problems. We also recommend for you to verify the transmission oil once a month, specially if your car is over two years old. To prevent major problems and spot any leaks.

How often should I get a transmission fluid change?

Transmission fluid should be changed periodically. Your owner’s manual should give you the recommended intervals. We recommend replacing transmission fluid and a transmission flush every two years or 40,000 KM, whichever comes first.

What types of services are available?

For over 20 year our focus have been only transmissions and the variety services available within transmissions. If you think you’re having a problem with your transmission, we’ll perform an External Diagnostic Service. This service includes checking the level and condition of the transmission oil, road test, electronic scan test if need be and pan inspection. Since December 2006, we expanded to include wheel alignment and tire balancing services. Therefore, now we are fully equipped to repair all drivability related problems which include: tires, suspension, brakes, alignment, etc.

How long does it take for a transmission repair?

Minor services can sometimes be performed the same day since they do not involve the removal of your transmission. Major services or transmission rebuilding could take several days, we’ll keep you informed of when a time of completion can be expected.

What if my vehicle is broken down and it’s after hours?

If you are a CAA member, you can have your car towed in and drop your keys at the key box on the side door of our building. Or call the towing company we deal with: Remorquage Val d’Isere at 514-945-3509 and ask them to tow your car to Trans-Mico and to charge Transmico as well. We have group rates with them and will charge it on your repair invoice.
